" I had a blast in the Caves, history seemed alive and well there and our evening was all the more special because of those incredible stone walls, a one off atmosphere for sure, and a great sounding venue. I look forward to returning in the near future.."
Cerys Matthews, December 2012

" The Caves is without doubt one of my favourite venues in the world . its truly a magical place to play music and we've always been looked after fantastically well "

PCL Presents...
MOON DUO
support from Delta Mainline
4th September 2014
Doors open at 7pm

Moon Duo are the project of Sanae Yamada and her beau, Erik ‘Ripley’ Johnson of droney San Franciscan outfit Wooden Shjips.Moon Duo’s sound does not deviate too far from that of the ’Shjips, with Johnson providing similar hallucinogenic guitar work and laconic half-sung/half-spoken vocals. However, with the addition of Yamada on the synths, the feel is more up-tempo and, at times, even playful. Taking their cue from the minimalist electronic style of Silver Apples, pulsating synths are carried by cyclic motorik drum loops that repeat, and repeat, and repeat.

Royal Southern Brotherhood
support from SafeHouse
8th September 2014
Doors open at 7pm

Before they even hit a chord, The Royal Southern Brotherhood have your attention. In the US South, where music is religion, two rock ‘n’ roll bloodlines tower above all others. In the saloon bars from Mississippi to Maryland, mere mention of the Allman and Neville Brothers casts a magic spell. Conversation falls silent. Pool balls stop rolling. Ten-gallon hats are tipped in respect and beer-bottles raised in salute. These aren’t just bands, they’re gods, and with a lineup comprising both the iconic Cyril Neville and Devon Allman, The Royal Southern Brotherhood come pre-loaded with expectations. Don’t worry: they can match them. The family tree might be auspicious, but this new band trades on talent, not genealogy. It’s not about rock history: it’s about the here-and-now.

We Were Promised Jetpacks

19th September 2014
Doors open at 7pm

We Were Promised Jetpacks formed in Edinburgh, in 2003. The band played their first gig at their school's 'battle of the bands' competition, which they won. The four-piece eventually relocated to Glasgow: "There was a time when we first moved to Glasgow (we grew up and went to school in Edinburgh, then three of us moved to Glasgow and one of us to Stirling) and started playing proper gigs in proper venues. Playing in Edinburgh before was weird as we were underage, so ended up playing some odd nights. Which was cool, but when we moved to Glasgow we were of drinking age and we started playing places like Sleazy’s and whatnot. We felt like a proper band." In September 2008, the band supported Frightened Rabbit during their tour for The Midnight Organ Fight. The band signed to Fat Cat Records after the label listened to some tracks on their MySpace following a recommendation from future label mates Frightened Rabbit. The band's drummer, Darren Lackie, is known amongst the band as "Peter Quiznose" Bassist Sean Smith is known to his friends as 'Goose' and features in the YouTube video 'Goose - 1 minute smile'. The nickname 'Goose' is attributed to his running style noted by his coach in youth football.

The Amazing Snakeheads
support TBC
5th October 2014
Doors open at 7pm

It starts like this. A crashing gong breaks silence like the angry crack of knuckles. A rhythm track creeps and snakes threatening to lunge forward out of the speakers at any second. A voice – a howl even – cuts through the midnight murk. “She’s more beautiful than any woman I’ve ever met… and she fucking knows it!” All about the place, guitars skid wildly right across the track before locking tight to spartan bass and drums. It’s an exhilarating sound; a musical perp walk. It’s the sound of the Amazing Snakeheads - your new favourite band.

Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK, is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead. His live shows combine deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a onceseen-never-forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds people can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
